Many times when we were looking for nice places to hang out, we were pretty much left with limited choices or worst, totally clueless. To be frank, I always hope that Penang would have fantastic hang out places like those easily found along the famous hot spots of Patong Beach, Phuket or Kuta, Bali. I guess my wish came true after all.
Coming up soon..The hottest spot for people to chill out and chit chatting while enjoying the cool island breeze, be side by side with little marine fishes and beautiful landscaping to attract your attention. What makes us so excited about this place?
Opps.do we sound like a DeeJay style of promoting a place? Seems a little like we are right now certainly something that we seldom. But what makes us change our mind? Gosh.

Try it yourself. Once you step into this place, I bet you would be totally agree with us J The place is none other than, Sticks with a touch of Hawaii. The place is run by Jerry, Kim and Teoh. The 3 of them loves to hang out but always ran out of places and ideas each time their friends came over to enjoy our beautiful beaches and sea. And that is how they finally came out with this concept not only for them but for everyone to chill out.
The designs will make us feel like a little of Balinese style with solid wood furnishings around the entire outdoor area.Occasionally we were greeted with cool island breeze from afar while we comfortably sit at the open spaced are to enjoy a glass of cold drink with my other half.
You might find it odd to be sitting by the roadside where many vehicles passing by. But I found it astonish that I do not felt like I am in the middle of busy street. Perhaps it was due to the design layout of the place itself, the worries of being disturbed with noises and odor from the vehicles passing, just doesn't seems to exist.
The building has also upper open spaced area and Huat Koay is honored to be invited by Jerry to have a glance from the top of the restaurant. He is amazed with the view from the top, perhaps you might be too.
At one corner of the restaurant, there are stools available for those who enjoy sitting by bar drinking and accompanied with music. Sticks will never turn you down even if you are alone or prefer to be alone to enjoy a simple glass of beer.
I guess I should credit the owners who really give some thoughts to all our needs. There is an indoor dining area fully air-conditional. So for those who prefer to have a more private, colder and comfort place to dine, they have one available and it is smoking free zone J
Hmm other than a nice environment, beautiful scenery, comfortable area, let's find out we can have to fullfil our tongue and tummy J.
Huat Koay had not tried on all their cocktails and drinks, but this is what he had for the night with his spouse.
Tamarind with longan. It is combination of sour plum and the longan, It taste so unique and you wont forget it at all. But some may not like it. Huay Koay's wife did, but unfortunately he did not.
Besides that, they suggested some of their signature drinks to us Coconut Cocktails, yes. You heard me right, drink with coconut taste with some add on kick. Complicated? We have to agree., You might too when you have your first sip.
The starter that we ordered is Spicy Volcano Chicken. They come with 3 sauces, it give us different experience when you combine all 3 sauces on the skewed chicken. But to our surprise, the spicy volcano chicken is not spicy at all, perhaps they should add in more spices to have a hot exploding volcano perhaps, and makes us on fire. Don't you think what would match entirely with the name? :P
We ordered some of their signature dish. Mango Grill Deep Sea Fish with Pasta or Rice. The fish is grill to perfection and it still remains it juicy texture.
Spicy Waikiki Sardine - The name of the title tell its all, spicy pasta with sardine. Huat Koay enjoyed the creativity of combination. We do have to applause them for the courage they have to actually came out with this dish. All the ingredient just blend together nicely. I do have to say that it might be a challenge for some of us to accept such combination, but it is something new and unique for a change.
To conclude, this outlet is certainly a great place for hang out with friends and love ones. Although they are still room for improvement in terms of their food and service. One thing for sure is we can't wait to try on other food they will be offering in their menu and hopefully it would surprise me even more besides the great dinning environment offered.
